Ward 4 Issues Forum for Qualified Candidates.
NEIGHBORS AND CONCERNED WARD 4 VOTERS. The Ward 4 Democrats is co-hosting its second Issues Forums for qualified candidates with the Shepherd Park Citizens Association. The forum will focus solely on economic development, legislative priorities, transportation and parks and recreation. Our Forum is open to the public.
At the Forum, we will ask the candidates questions (i) prepared by our panelists, (ii) obtained, in advance, from various listservs (in addition to our own), e.g., Chevy Chase, Northwest Corner and Takoma Park listservs, and (iii) written by audience members attending the Forum. Please email your questions on issues of economic development, legislative priorities, transportation and parks and recreation to me at dwayne.toliver@verizon.net.
Please also note that at the Forum, the Ward 4 Dems will present two resolutions for a vote by the members of the Ward 4 Dems attending the forum. Both resolutions will go to the issue that, because Ward 4 is unrepresented on the DC Council and the Board of Education, we respectfully request that the Council delay its vote on the Mayor's education legislation until such time as a we have a representative elected and seated to vote the interests of our Ward. Our resolutions do not go to the merits of the legislation, only our disenfranchisement.
If you have any questions regarding the forum or the resolutions, please call Dwayne Toliver (202.360.3334)
President, Ward 4 Democrats of Washington, DC (email dwayne.toliver@verizon.net)

Forum on School Governance Issues: Dialogue with Citizens on the School Takeover.
Recognizing the fact that the school takeover issue is not over until the legislation is signed by Congress and all legal challenges are exhausted, the debate on the mayor's proposed takeover of the DC public schools takeover continues. The council vote on the takeover is set for
April 3, but there will be plenty of discussion in the aftermath of the vote before it goes to final markup. What are the reactions of the city on the takeover? What can be expected from the takeover?
Join Premier Community Development Corporation (PCDC) and others for a forum on the school governance issue. The forum is entitled Standing Up for Our Children, Families, and Communities: The Role of Government and Stakeholders in Improving Our Schools, Our Neighborhoods. There will be
a panel discussion with audience participation. Let's hear what the next steps are in education reform in the District of Columbia and how we can make this city a special place for all. Will there be a place for stakeholders in the proposed new bureaucracy? The forum is free and open to the public.

Metro and DDOT Host Public Meetings for Metrobus 30s and M6 Lines.
Metro and the District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will jointly host two public meetings about the 30s and M6 Metrobus Lines study on October 18 and 24.
The meetings will focus on customer review and feedback on options to improve service on Metrobus routes 30, 32, 34, 35, 36 and M6. The draft improvement options were developed from responses to a June 2007 rider survey, input from public meetings in July and additional technical analyses conducted by the study staff.
The current 30s bus line service--which runs generally along Pennsylvania Avenue from Naylor Road and Southern Avenue Metro Stations to the Foggy Bottom area and along Wisconsin Avenue from Georgetown to Friendship Heights--has the highest ridership of any line in the Metrobus system.
The study is looking for ways to diminish the effects of traffic delays, crowding, detours, safety issues and other problems common among large urban bus systems.
