About this event
LWVDC members and engagers will get answers to their questions about the DC Bottle Bill on Thursday, April 24, 7:30 - 9 pm, through a presentation on Zoom. The LWVDC Climate Team has lined up two experts to speak: Susan Schorr, who chairs the Zero Waste Committee of Sierra Club DC and leads the campaign for passage of this legislation, will discuss how the program would operate in DC. Kirstie Pecci, executive director of Just Zero, a national zero waste non-profit, will discuss bottle deposit programs from a national perspective, based on research studies and the experiences of the 10 states that currently have bottle deposit programs. A Q&A session will follow. DC’s Bottle Bill, known as the Recycle, Refund, and Litter Reduction Amendment Act of 2025, would put a ten-cent deposit on beverage containers sold in DC.
Videoconference information will be provided in an email once payment is received.
