About this event

Celebrate Women's History Month and International Women's Day on March 8! Join LWVDC for an inspiring conversation about our nation's first congresswoman, Jeannette Rankin.

Book Talk: Winning The Earthquake

Author Lorissa Rinehart reveals how Rankin defied impossible odds, a hostile political machine, and the limitations of her era to become the first woman elected to Congress.
In conversation with Betsy Fischer Martin, Executive Director of American University's Women and Politics Institute and WeLead Training Program, we'll explore what Rankin's groundbreaking victory teaches us about the fight ahead—and the power women hold to shape our democracy. This isn't just history. It's a blueprint.

Be part of the conversation about women's critical role in powering, protecting, and defending our democracy—past, present, and future.
