LWVDC July Member Event
Because of several factors, including the heat advisory, the John Lewis Day of Commemoration and Action event in Washington, DC is taking place at the John A Wilson Building (1350 Pennsylvania Ave. NW, follow the signs for the correct entrance) from 5:30-7:00 on Wednesday, July 17. It will be livestreamed and can be viewed at
https://littvnetwork.com/events.
Our purpose is to continue the legacy of John Lewis who said, "Your vote is precious. Almost sacred. It's the most nonviolent tool we have to create a more perfect union."
As we commemorate John Lewis and his work, we carry it forward by calling for swift passage of the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act, the Freedom to Vote Act, the Native American Voting Rights Act and the Washington DC Admission Act.
Attached is an updated flyer from Mayor Bowser's office.
Bring yourself! Pick up your sign, buttons, and candle when you get to the Wilson Building. LWV is providing voter registration services and an opportunity to sign the petition in support of DC Statehood.
Thanks for your engagement and commitment to building a more perfect union.
